A wedding day at Orocco Pier, South Queensferry, captured by Annie Mac Photography, and blessed with one of those truly magical Scottish summer days — endless blue skies, warm sunshine and the harbour shimmering in the light. The kind of day couples dream of when planning a South Queensferry wedding by the sea.

The afternoon unfolded right along the waterfront, with guests relaxing on the balcony, drinks in hand, taking in the breathtaking views across the harbour towards the iconic Forth Bridge. Children laughed and played in the water below while boats drifted past, creating the perfect setting for relaxed, candid moments — everything I love about natural wedding photography in Scotland.

Speeches were enjoyed with everyone seated and soaking up the scenery, laughter and heartfelt words echoing across the balcony with one of Scotland’s most famous backdrops behind them. This laid-back, documentary style is at the heart of my work as a documentary wedding photographer , focusing on real emotion and genuine connection.

Earlier in the day, the bridesmaids were spotted heading off on an ice cream mission (a must on a sunny Scottish day ), adding to the fun, coastal feel of the celebration. As the sun dipped and evening arrived, the party moved indoors with music, dancing and guests filling the dance floor, celebrating well into the night.

A perfect Orocco Pier wedding — relaxed, joyful and full of personality. A beautiful example of Scotland wedding photography, combining coastal scenery, heartfelt moments and timeless storytelling by Annie Mac Photography.

How far in advance should we book you?

As soon as you know you’d love us as your wedding photographers and videographers.

Popular dates book up quickly, and we’re often reserved 12–24 months in advance, especially for peak-season weddings in Edinburgh and across Scotland. We can’t hold dates without a signed contract and retainer, so if your heart says yes, it’s best to get in touch early.

How much wedding photography coverage do we need?

Most couples book between 6 and 10 hours of wedding photography, depending on how your day flows — whether you’re planning a first look, moving between locations, or leaning into a relaxed, unhurried timeline.

We also love intimate weddings and elopements, particularly midweek, which usually need 2–3 hours. For those all-out, beautifully long celebrations, we can cover up to 14–16 hours. We offer a selection of luxury wedding photography packages, with options for one or two photographers and optional videography.

We offer a selection of luxury wedding photography packages, with options for one or two photographers and optional videography. All of our pricing is available online, giving you a clear starting point and helping guide you towards the package that best suits your wedding day.

Once you’ve had a look, we love to chat through your plans and fine-tune the details, making sure your coverage feels perfectly aligned with your timeline, priorities and the way you want your day to unfold — thoughtful, tailored and never rushed.

Do we really need a second photographer?

Honestly? Yes — and here’s why. A second photographer allows your day to unfold naturally, without rushing or compromise. If you’re getting ready in different locations or skipping a first look, it means both of you are fully covered without stress.

While one photographer focuses on family portraits and wedding party images, the other captures guest moments, atmosphere and those blink-and-you-miss-it details. It’s the secret to a calm experience and beautifully layered, documentary-style storytelling.

What if it rains?

This is Scotland — we plan for all possibilities . If you’re dreaming of an outdoor ceremony, we’ll help you think through a stylish backup option with your venue. From our side, we’re completely at home shooting in any weather. Rain can be romantic, dramatic and incredibly photogenic — all you need is a sense of adventure.

How do you look after our images?

Very carefully. We shoot on dual-card cameras for instant backups, then store your images across multiple hard drives — including off-site storage and a fireproof, waterproof safe. One set of cards is archived and untouched until your final gallery is delivered. Your memories are treated with the care they deserve.

What if something unexpected happens?

While it’s extremely rare, we’re fully prepared. We’re connected to a trusted network of exceptional wedding photographers and videographers across Scotland and would ensure seamless coverage if the unexpected ever arose. Our priority is always that your day is beautifully documented, no matter what.

Can we interest you in some cake?

Always. Without hesitation. 🍰
