Style & ExperienceHow would you describe your "Documentary Soul" photography style?

Our approach is rooted in natural, documentary storytelling. We avoid stiff, awkward posing in for a more relaxed  "Documentary Soul"—capturing the genuine energy of a Glasgow wedding.
Whether it’s quiet whispers during bridal prep or belly laughs during the speeches, we document the day as it unfolds. Your final gallery will include a curated mix of vibrant colour and timeless black-and-white images.

Do you provide drone wedding footage?
Absolutely. Aerial drone cinematography is included in our Vintage, Sapphire, and Platinum packages (weather permitting). It offers a breathtaking perspective of your venue—whether you're at a city-centre hotel or a rustic barn in the West of Scotland.

What is a "Signature Frame," and is it included?

Unlike many photographers who charge extra for physical keepsakes, we include a complimentary Signature Frame in almost all packages. We mount your favourite photo with a wide border for your guests to sign—a beautiful, modern alternative to a traditional guest book.

Booking & PlanningIs a pre-wedding shoot included?
Yes! Every Annie Mac Photography package includes a complimentary pre-wedding consultation and engagement shoot. We find this is the best way to help you feel relaxed in front of the camera before the big day arrives.

What is your availability for 2026 weddings?
As a popular Glasgow wedding photographer, I am often booked 12–18 months in advance.
Please contact Annie to check your date.

Will you be the one photographing our wedding?
Yes. When you book Annie Mac Photography, Annie is your lead photographer. If your package includes a second photographer (recommended for larger guest counts or dual prep coverage), I will introduce you to my trusted professional partner well in advance.

How much experience do you have with Glasgow weddings?
We bring over 18 years of professional wedding photography experience to every celebration. Having captured hundreds of weddings across Glasgow and the West of Scotland, we are intimately familiar with the city's best backdrops—from the urban charm of the Merchant City to the hidden gems in the West End. Our long-standing expertise ensures we can handle any lighting situation or Scottish weather surprise with total confidence.

Do you travel beyond Glasgow for weddings
Absolutely! While we are proud Glasgow wedding photographers, we regularly head "further afield" to capture love stories. Whether you are planning a Highland elopement, a Loch Lomond waterside ceremony, or a wedding anywhere across the UK, we are happy to travel. Just let us know your venue when enquiring, and we will provide a bespoke quote that includes travel.

Why Add a Wedding Film our photography package?
While photography freezes a beautiful moment in time, a wedding film captures the movement and sound that photos simply cannot. Imagine being able to hear your partner's voice crack during their vows, the laughter of your guests during the speeches, or the specific song that filled the room during your first dance. see link below
Real Wedding films

Do you offer a combined photography and videography package
Yes we offer combined photography and videography because we believe your wedding isn't just a series of images—it’s a living story. A film allows you to relive the atmosphere of the day, making it a priceless family heirloom for years to come.

Why will we love our wedding film?
Most couples tell us that their wedding day went by in a "blur." You’ll love your film because it fills in the gaps. It captures the "in-between" moments: the nervous deep breaths before you walk down the aisle, the way your grandparents held hands during the ceremony, and the high-energy joy of your reception. Our 2026 Wedding Films are edited with a "cinematic documentary" feel—meaning they aren't long and boring. They are vibrant, emotional, and perfectly paced to keep you watching again and every anniversary.

Is it better to book photo and film together?
Absolutely. Booking our husband-and-wife team (Annie & Peter) ensures a seamless experience. Because we work together every week, we never get in each other's way. You get a consistent artistic style across both your photos and your film, and it’s often much more cost-effective than hiring two separate companies. Plus, you only have one point of contact for all your wedding memories!Life's Best Moments, Perfectly Captured.

Your Wedding Day: A Seamless Photo & Film Timeline

Our goal is to create stunning, cinematic portraits while giving you the space to celebrate with your favorite people. A well-planned schedule ensures we capture every heartbeat without missing a beat.

  • Morning Preparations: We capture the quiet anticipation—the dress, the rings, and the candid laughs as the day begins.
  • The "First Look": Whether it’s with your partner or a private reveal with Dad, we document these raw, emotional first moments.
  • The Ceremony: From the walk down the aisle to the "I dos," we blend wide cinematic shots with close-up emotional reactions.
  • Organised Family Portraits: We keep these short and efficient so you can get back to the party!
  • Golden Hour Portraits: We’ll slip away for a few minutes of romantic, cinematic couple’s shots during the best natural light.
  • Speeches & Reception: Every detail of your decor, every heartfelt toast, and every belly laugh is beautifully preserved.
  • The Party: We stay for the first three dances and the energy of the dance floor, capturing the spontaneous joy of your celebration.
  • Grand Finales: From sparkler send-offs to fireworks, we stay ready to capture those stunning, high-drama final moments.

Every Shot Tells a Love Story.

Life's Best Moments, Perfectly Captured.

Timeless Art: Hand-Crafted Wedding Photos & Cinematic Film
A Legacy of Excellence: Award-Winning StorytellingWith over 18 years of professional experience—including high-profile work for the BBC and Channel 4—Annie and Peter have established themselves as a leading name in the Scottish wedding industry.
Our "Documentary Soul" approach has not only captured the hearts of hundreds of couples but has also earned us a place in the most prestigious wedding publications in the UK.
From the high-fashion pages of Belle Bridal to the classic inspiration of the Scottish Wedding Directory, our work is consistently recognised for its authenticity, cinematic quality, and emotional depth.
Being featured in Your Scottish Wedding, Hitched, and Scottish Wedding Magazine is more than just an accolade; it is a testament to our commitment to preserving your story with unparalleled artistry.
Whether we are documenting a grand celebration in the heart of Glasgow or an intimate elopement in the Highlands, our mission remains the same: to create imagery and film worthy of a magazine cover, while staying true to the raw, honest moments that make your love story unique.

What is "Editorial" Style?
Think of a high-end fashion magazine like Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar. This style isn't about capturing what happens naturally; it’s about

creating a masterpiece.The Look:
Photos look polished, expensive, and dramatic. You might see "direct flash" (that bright, cool celebrity-paparazzi look) or very deliberate shadows.

The Focus: It’s obsessed with the aesthetic. Your shoes, the way the veil catches the breeze, and the symmetry of your table settings get as much "fame" as the ceremony itself.

Feature Editorial PhotographyDocumentary/Candid (Our Style)PosingHighly directed; we tell you exactly where to put your hands and chin. Natural; we capture you laughing and moving naturally.

Time
Can take longer as we "set the scene" for the perfect shot.Fast and fluid; we stay in the background so you can party.

Emotion
Cool, calm, and "high-fashion" expressions.Raw, messy, joyful, and "real" emotions.

Priority
The Image: Making you look like a model in Milan.

The Moment:
Making sure you remember how it felt.I’m so happy I’m crying" and more about "I look incredible and this moment is iconic."

The Trade-Off: Fashion vs. Feelings
While editorial photography looks stunning on a Pinterest board, it changes how your wedding day feels while it's happening:
Export to Sheets

The "Editorial" Trap
As you mentioned, the word is currently a massive trend. Some photographers use "Editorial" as an excuse to ignore the heart of the wedding.

You might love Editorial if:
You are a fashion-lover and want "wow" photos for your home and social media. You don't mind spending an hour or two being "directed" to get the perfect shot. The "look" of the wedding is a top priority for you.

You might prefer our "Documentary Soul" if:
You want to see your grandparents’ happy tears, not just a photo of your handbag. You want to spend your time drinking champagne with friends, not posing for a catwalk. You want photos that feel honest and alive, even if the horizon is straight and the lighting is soft.

 Our Approach
At Annie Mac Photography,
we take the best parts of editorial—the attention to detail and the beautiful lighting—but we ground it in
real life.
We ensure your shoes and flowers look like they belong in a magazine, but we never let the "pose" get in the way of the "soul."

What is Documentary Photography

(often called "Reportage" or "Photojournalism")
is the art of telling a story through candid, unposed moments.Instead of the photographer acting as a "director"
capture the day exactly as it happens. A documentary photographer won't stop you in the middle of putting on your veil to ask you to "do that again for the camera." They wait for the real moment to occur naturally.

Focus on Emotion and Narrative
While traditional photography focuses on "looking perfect," documentary photography focuses on "feeling real." It prioritizes the shaky hands during the vows, the loud laughter during the speeches, and the quiet, private glances that no one else sees.

The "Fly on the Wall"
Technique Documentary photographers usually move quietly and use natural light whenever possible to remain unobtrusive. This allows guests to relax and forget there is a camera in the room, leading to much more authentic images.

Context and Storytelling
It’s not just about the couple; it’s about the environment. This style captures the "vibe" of the room—the cluttered bridal suite, the rainy Glasgow streets, or the chaotic energy of the dance floor. It builds a complete visual "diary" of the day.

popular for 2026 weddings:
Modern couples are moving away from the "stiff" wedding albums of the past. They want to look back and remember the joy and the people, not just how long they spent standing in a line for family portraits.

At Annie Mac Photography, we call this "Documentary Soul." We use our experience to predict where the emotion will happen next, ensuring we are in the right place at the right time without ever breaking the "magic" of the moment.
Would you like to see how we blend this candid style with a few "relaxed portraits" so you still get the best of both worlds?
